hi dan, caught your mess. on the s.c.m. I only know of the turul
as the national symbol as we have the bald eagle in the
united states. As far as the csodaszarvas or the wonder buck
the stories i remember from scouting was the beautiful
silver colored deer which was the objest of a hunt
by two of the original founders of the magyar empire.
There lengthy hunt kept them going for weeks on end
until the two brothers were brought into the land
we call hungary or the ural region. the sweetest part
of the myth was that when they arrived in the new homeland
there were many beautiful maidens there for all the
hunting party. The elusive csodaszarvas then was never
seen again. Its been 30 years since ive heard this and never thought
about it till your call. if i locate more info
in my old scouting handbooks. in the meantime, your quest for
this type of info may be fruitful at http:/www.hungary.com
i think this is the correct addressfor you to subscribe there
free, I think. good luck. bert. szia, szervusz

I'm writing a book on inter-cultural experiences and would like to hear
funny / humorous experiences that you've encountered travelling or living
abroad. I am especially interested in humorous experiences that United
States immigrants experience during thier first few days in the U.S.

Please e-mail me * directly * (i.e., do not post) with:

1. A short story less than 20 lines (about 1600 words in a 80-column
computer screen) describing your hurorous experience
2a. Your name
  b. Your home city and country
  c. The city and country where the experience occured
  d. Your e-mail address so I can contact you, if needed

In preparing this book, I may quote your story (with due credit, of
course). By supplying me the story, I am going to assume that you have
given me your permission to quote your story. If I do quote it, I will
credit your name/home city in the book. If you wish to remain anonymous
in the book, then please state so in your message to me. Thanks!

Let's get a little bit realistic and not emotional. There was a very
strong opposition agaisnt the Iraqi involvement of the US. Although
the media talked about overwhelming support, it was far from the truth.
Popular support had risen after the quick victory only.

>However the man who resides in a cute white house in Washington DC

I am not friend of Clinton at all, but let's get real again. There is
very littel support from the US public for a war in Bosnia. Americans
are very outspeaking about freedom and very emotional about seeing what
is happening in Bosnia. However, reality sets in and no one wants to
get involved in a conflict where nobody wants peace. Also the odds for
quck military victory are very low in Bosnia and nobody wants to see
American blood on that soil.

>time fancy US TV channels showed the situation such that Bosnians need
>American troops and weapons...

Do not pay attention to American TV channels. Your comments show that
you have no idea about American TV. They do not represent the official
line of the American government and they do not represent the true
feelings of the American people. They care about one thing, that is
rating and money. It is their interest to show sad pictures about the
war because that is what lures people to watch their program. They
would love to see another war because that would give them an
opportunity to civer something. Otherwisw they are bored and don't
make money.

If this is true, why do not Islam countries get into Bosnia in full
force. They have the potential to crush the Serbs. They would be able
to get UN support if they were vocal about their position. You can
rearly hear their voice.
Why Islamic countries do not organize international brigades like the
communists did in Spain. I am sure lots of American would join happily
as well?

I work for a very small non-profit based in Princeton, NJ called the
Corvina Foundation. It's sole mission is to contribute to or design and
execute projects in the arts and education sectors which benefit
Hungarians in Hungary. We have two projects we'd like to accomplish in
the next year:
The first is a distance learning project using teleconferencing software
over the 'net between The Manhattan School of Music and the Franz Liszt
Academy in Budapest. Essentially, we would offer a violin master class,
given in/broadcast from NYC for the students in Budapest, followed later
by a master class on Bartok string quartets given by the Takacs Quartet
in/broadcast from Budapest.

The second project involves working with the Hungarian Ministry of Culture
and a Hungarian 'net access provider to put together a comprehensive
database on Hungarian Culture (from painting to folk dancing) on the WWW.

I have no problem describing the projects in detail...I am having a
problem describing the step by step strategy to accomplish them, breaking
them down into their component parts and figuring out how much they're
going to cost so I know how much we need to raise! (There is a foundation
that has expressed an interest in assisting us financially with both of
these projects...).

Any advice would be welcome!

Many thanks in advance,

Joshua S. Freeman
