Aha!  So seeing things in historical context is not so alien to you
after all!  How about taking that view also when discussing Hungarian
minority policies before Trianon?

I'm gathering a database of blessings/holy sayings/mantras from as many
spiritual traditions/religions as possible. Any sort of blessing is
appropriate. If interested, would you please provide the following:

1. the untranslated blessing, spelled out as accurately as possible, with
explanation of pronunciation (accents and diacritics as possible)

2. the meaning of the blessing in English

3. the religion/spiritual tradition from which the blessing comes

4. the country from which the blessing comes

5. the language in which the untranslated blessing is written


Anything goes, from major spiritual traditions to tribal blessings of any sort
An example would be:


1. Darood bar shmaw (my apologies to any Farsi speakers reading this;
correction would be most appreciated). Accents on "rood" and "maw"

2. God be with you

3. religious tradition unknown to me. Islam? Zoroastrianism? Other?

4. Iran

5. Farsi

Minhea --  I doubt that Wally was asserting any claim to "determine" 
Romania's foreign policy, knowing fully well that that is the legitimate 
right of the Romanian Government.  He was expressing his opinion, which, 
on the other hand, IS his right to do.

This exchange brings up an interesting example of a country (Romania) 
that has a historic claim on a neighboring country's territory where some 
of the citizens are of the same ethnic group as the mother country.  In 
this case, Romania feels it has the right and even the moral obligation 
to speak up and make demands on her neighbor to ensure fair treatment for 
the Romanians living there.

Similarly, even though Hungary has no teritorial designs on neighboring 
Romania and does not even cast doubts on elections in Transylvania, 
nevertheless Hungary also expresses a strong interest in the fate of 
Hungarians in Romania who live in Transylvania, a territory in which 
Hungary had historic interest.  It's encouraging to know that Romania 
understands.
