Dear friends,
This year, 2002, the IDO will for the first time organize the "IDO World
Theatre Arts Exhibition Championship".
The Championship will be organized within the great United States Dance Sport
Championships week in Miami in the beginning of September. In order to give
interested dancers the chance to prepare them selves for the above standing
Championship, we would like to send out the set of rules that will be used and
are as follows.
7. THEATRE ARTS EXHIBITION <?xml:namespace prefix = o ns =
"urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:office" />
A. All routines may be theatrical in nature but 1/3 of the routine must
use International or American style Ballroom, International or American style
Latin or Social Couple Dances from any era and nationality. Acrobatic tricks,
lifts, adagio and Theatre style dance may constitute the remaining 2/3 of the
routine.
B. Social Couple Dances may be defined as those disciplines defined by
IDO or any and all other styles, such as Mazurka, Charleston, Polonaise,
Czardas, Minuet, Lindy Hop, etc.
C. A couple is defined as one male and one female dancer.
D. No individual or couple may compete against himself.
E. All routines will be choreographed with the dancer s own music. The
music may be authentic or a theatrical version.
F. Length of exhibition will be no less than 2:30 and no more than 2:45 in
length.
G. All routines will be judged individually as a solo performance and there
will be at least 15 minutes between rounds.
H. Dress or costume changes during the performance are permitted
I. Stage props are permissible when carried by the dancer/s in one
trip. Stagehands are not allowed to carry props for the dancers.

We are absolutely sure that it will be a fantastic event. We hope to see the
traditional International IDO field of competitors from all over the World
participating in this new exiting IDO discipline. We wish you all welcome to
