hatranyos, hiszen a hasznalati utasitasok, a rendeszerek mind angol
programozasban ugyis mindenki angolt hasznal. De itt vannak az altalam
hallott torzszulemenyek:

home security system riaszto berendezes
file allomany
hard-drive kemeny lemezes olvaso
floppy puha lemez
EPROM, RAM - ezek mozaik szavak, magyarul is igy hasznaljak

is.

A tegnap Kiss Laci altal emlitett kiserletrol szolo hir biztos
tudnak elohivni a stimulalas helyetol fuggoen. [Agymuteteket altalaban altatas
nelkul szoktak vegezni.
jot a neurofiziologia hirnevenek, es ugy a tudomanynak altalaban,
pontosan mit is mondott.

augusztus 20-a? Amint a szokasos kereszteny unnepek (Karacsony,
Husvet) sem veletlenul vannak eppen akkor, amikor, gondolom
Istvan unnepe sem azert lett eppen augusztus 20, mert akkor erkezett
meg a csomaghordo futar a koronaval... :-) Vagy ha megis, akkor
direkt akkorra rendeltek.

--------

                        Places to go in California

I. San Francisco:
      A. Fisherman's Wharf - touristy, but fun to walk around. If you
have time, go to the Exploratorium at the Palace of the Legion
of Honour nearby - it's a warehouse crammed with things to do,
i.e., tricks with sound, light, optics, etc. A great place to
            spend a cloudy afternoon!
      B. Pier 39 - VERY touristy, but there are a few cute shops (kites
and teddy bears) and a carousel. Only worth the visit if you
            have extra time.
            1. Fog City Diner or Il Fornaio - near Pier 39 and the
Embarcadero: very popular, fairly casual restaurants for
                  excellent California cuisine
      C. Emille's (Rondi says it's one of SF's best down town
            resturants).
      D. North Beach - the Italian part of town, also nearby. For real,
traditional Italian food (inexpensive, no reservation Tomasso's
            - you'll have to wait, but it will be worth it!) Single or
double musician play in bars at night.
      E. Ghirardelli Square - good shops and a chocolate factory to
            visit (great ice cream sundaes!)
            1. Boat ride around, or to, Alcatraz
            2. Buena Vista Cafe - Irish Coffees early in the morning
(supposedly they were invented here - everyone drinks
them). View isn't great - despite the name. Crammed
onto tables by pushy waitresses (fun to share a table
with strangers once you get over the shock of the
                  waitresses).
      F. Muir Woods - out of town a bit, across the Golden Gate Bridge:
nice walk through the redwoods (although paved path - get off
            of it!)
            1. The Pelican Pub - English pub (Guiness on tap) near Muir
                  Woods
            2. Muir Beach - near the Pelican
      G. Coit Tower - and walk up Filbert steps to it (from Filbert
Street: goes through old fishing houses - nice views of the
            city at night).
      H. Golden Gate Park - nice walks, museums, an aquarium and
            Japanese Tea Gardens
      I. Union Street - great small shops, a cinema and some good
restaurants (Prego for Californian-Italian is super but a bit
pricey.) - also great French pastries at La Nouvelle
            Patisserie.
      J. Union Square - home of the big hotels and the big stores (Saks
Fifth Avenue, Macy's, Neiman-Marcus) It's fun to go to one of
the big hotel restaurants on Nob Hill at Union Square (like the
Top of the Mark at the Mark Hopkins or Victor's at the St.
Francis) for Sunday morning all-you-can-eat brunch with
champagne and a fantastic view. Evening discos here are
            pricey.
      K. Lombard Street - (reputed to be the crookedest street in the
world!) Fun once just to say you've done it.
      L. Haight-Ashbury Corner - to see where it all happened in the
            60's.
II. Berkeley's worth trip to see. (below is Kristy's personal tour).
      Drop by the campus to see old hippies hanging out (and the spot-man);
don't walk down Telegraph Ave unless you're feeling particularly
courageous - good cafes, but lots of weirdos!
      A. North Berkeley is much more pleasant - try a visit to Shattuck
and Vine where you'll find Pete's Coffee House (a Berkeley
institution); North Berkeley Wines; the Produce Center and the
Cheese Board (a cooperative cheese and bread shop) - instant
picnic: voila! Try taking the stuff up to the Berkeley Rose
Garden or Tilden Park. Or, if you don't fancy a picnic, try
Chez Panisse restaurant on Shattuck. This is where California
cuisine all started! Fantastic for lunch or dinner, but stick
to the cafe, not the restaurant downstairs which is very pricey
and takes reservations way in advance. Expect to wait. Other
            restaurants in the area:
            1. Cha Am Thai Restaurant: on the corner of Shattuck and
Cedar - fantastic Thai food, lots of veggies, very
                  inexpensive.
            2. Bucci's: on the way back to S.F. in Emeryville, Italian
food in a funky atmosphere, personally my favourite
restaurant in the world! Not too expensive, make their
own olives and bread - everything from scratch! Take the
Powell Street exit off of 880, head towards the hills,
left on Hollis, it will be on your left.
            3. Skate's on the Bay: on the Berkeley Marina, great for
                  cocktails at happy hour
            4. Triple Rock Brewery: on Shattuck near University Ave, a
micro brewery where they do all their own beers, and
they're good! Good sandwiches and nachos, very casual
and mellow atmosphere, a terrace upstairs for sunny
                  afternoons.
III. The Wine Country: only about an hour's drive north of San Francisco,
beautiful scenery! Go to Sonoma and Napa and go tasting.
Particularly good vineyards are Caymus, Pine Ridge, Sterling, Stag's
Leap, Cuivaison, and Trefethen. If you get to Berkeley first, pick
your cheeses at the Cheese Board and take some of their homemade
sourdough baguettes along for an amazing picnic.
IV. Santa Cruz. A cool rollercoaster and other rides at the beach. I
      prefer Capitola.
V. Capitola - great small town, small restaurants.
      A. Mr Toots - great upstairs breakfast place with balcony looking
            out on the beach.
      B. Margaritaville - ok Mexican food. Seats looking out to the
            beach. Kinda laidback atmosphere.
      C. Ci Bonet (spelling?) - supposedly good resturant.
VI. Carmel Highlands: very near Carmel, go to the Highland's Inn (just
off the highway) for lunch at the California Marketplace. Great
views from the terrace, and overpriced, delicious burgers, salads,
      etc.
VII. Carmel: (restuarants compliments of Kristy again)
      A. 17 Mile Drive - a must. Gorgeous views.
      B. Pebble Beach Golf Course - if nothing else, stop in for a
drink. It's on 17 mile drive. Ask for directions - you can
            drive right by it.
      C. Hog's Breath Inn. Clint's place. Worth a visit. In the
middle to Carmel. Kind of touristy and dirty.
      D. The Forge in the Forest. Outdoor and indoor place for drinks
and light meals, a good crowd most nights in this sleepy town!
            Outdoor fireplaces.
      E. Casanova's. A very romantic and somewhat expensive Italian
            restaurant. Cosy.
      F. Katie's Restaurant. The best eggs benedict in the world, and
anything else you can imagine for breakfast - pancakes,
            muffins, waffles, omelette...Yummy!
      G. Piatti's. Just opened, great Italian food at reasonable
            prices.
      H. Shopping.
VIII. Monterey
      A. The Aquarium - FANTASTIC! Well worth the visit, but try to go
on a weekday to avoid the crowds.
      B.    Fresh Cream - excellent restaurant.  Small; white table cloths;
            superb cuisine!
      C. The Wharf - feed the already too fat and lazy sea lions.
      D. Bed and breakfast places are good: Seven Gables (gaudy and
over the top); *Green Gables (ask for the top room - nice views
and traditional decor); The Jabberwok (Alison In Wonderland -
Through the Looking Glass theme) - pleasant, friendly owners.
Happy hour munchies and sherry provided as well as milk and
cookies before bed and great breakfast right out the stories).
Double room with fire place ~150.00.
IX. *Big Sur
      A. *Pfeiffer Beach - remote and beautiful. Ask for directions,
you'll miss the signs. It's just after a little shop
(travelling south) on the right as you go up a hill and around
a bend, and just before Ventana.
      B. *Ventana. Lodging and food excellent, also a nice patio for
cocktails (but expensive). Great views out over the ocean.
            Nice at sunset.
      C. *Nepenthe - great ski lodge atmosphere. A must! Windows
looking out over a cliff to the ocean. Neat shop underneath.
Music Sunday afternoons on the outer patio. You might miss the
patio unless you look for it. Just after Ventana (travelling
south), don't expect great cuisine (just burgers).
      D. Esalen. where it all happened in the 60's. You might be able
to take a day class in something newagey if you inquire. They
used to open the hot sulphur baths to the public at 1am. Hard
to find them in the dark, but follow someone else. Sit in the
outer one and look 100' down to the ocean below. Worth
staying up. Might not be open.
      E. If you're lucky, you might discover a few roads into the
            redwoods for exploring.
X. San Louis Obisbo
      A. SL Bay Inn - nice for a cocktail at Sunset, although I prefer
            the Morrow Bay Inn.
            1. Near the SL Bay Inn - beyond Avila Beach and across from
the nuclear station - comfortable, funky, restaurant on
                  the pier.
      B. *Morrow Bay Inn & Golf Course. Beautiful Views. Windows
looking out over the water - view of Morrow Rock. Nice place
for an evening cocktail. Haven't eaten there, but happy hour
finger food is good :) (sideways smile).
      C. English Pub - ? Rose and Crown (or something close in name).
      D. Tortilla Flats - teeny bopper club. Pop your head in after
            10pm for an education.
XI. Santa Barbara
      A. *The Brown Pelican - good place on the beach for
            breakfast/coffee
      B. ? On way to campus. Great to sit and watch students, drink
            cappuccinos.
      C. Ride through mountains, past houses. Ring Tom Fikes (805-968-
1075) and wife Jarolyn for more info. He's a great friend at
UCSB and would be happy to help out. Say hello from me.
      D. Horse rides on top of hills looking over water is a great thing
            to do.
XII. Los Angeles: (all places to have a quick look at)
      A. Rodeo Drive - window shop. Leave your money at home.
      B. Redando, Venice, Studios
      C. Disney Land - in Anaheim.
      D. Melrose
      E. Ride through Beverley Hills.
      F. Walk down Malibu Beach.
      G. Don't know LA that well because Northern California is so much
            better!
XIII. San Diego - (compliments of Kirsten)
      A. *Hotel Del Coronado: get a ferry from Sea Port Village (also a
nice shopping center). Great Place, good views. Could drive
            across bridge.
      B. Mission Bay - good wind surfing.
      C. Sea World and the Zoo are worth seeing if you're interested.
You get what you'd expect. I prefer Sea World.
      D. La Jolla -
            1. *Top of the Cove - good restaurant on Prospect Street.
Great views. Good service. Try this one first.
            2. Marine Room. Expensive. On the beach.
            3. La Jolla Beach and Tennis Club. Elite & Romantic. Next
                  to Marine Room.
            4. Charlie's - seafood or steak (her favourite place). On
highway 1. On the beach. Waves practically crash on
                  your meal.
            5. Train from San Diego to Santa Monica - relaxing views of
coast. Stop at San Juan Capistrano. Train Station
restaurant - fancy. Mission in town - walking distance.
            6. Diving in the Cove is good and in The Children's Pool
                  (inlet).
      E. Tijuana (a scummy border town, but if you've never been to
Mexico, you might want to see it). Barter for everything.
                               Inland a bit:
XIV. Yosemite - Touristy but beautiful, lots of climbing to be done.
      Glaciers cut the landscape here.
      A. *Vernon and Nevada Falls. Good six mile walk. Be sure to
            include the Mist Trail.
      B. Mirror Lake
XV. Huntington Lake or Pinecrest Lake in the Sierra. Beautiful. If you
have more time, keep going onto Mono Lake and Hot Springs.
Huntington is pretty far out into the High Sierra. Must go through
Fresno to get there. Far from most places you'll be.
XVI. Fresno: great place to live, but you wouldn't want to visit. If you
do happen to be passing through on the way to Yosemite or Huntington,
here are some places to go:
      A. Restaurants:
            1. Ripe Tomato - expensive, but supposed to be the best food
in town. In Fig Garden Shopping Center (Shaw and
                  Bullard?).
            2. Halen's: THE place to be seen: food is good, portions
too small. A bit pricey. You feel like you're on stage
while eating as people practically walk by your table to
get to the bar. Nice back open-air patio with jazz in
the summer. In the end, not really worth it. Older
                  singles place on Fridays.
            3. Fish Company - happy hour scene on Thursday and Friday
evenings. Singles. Also in Fig Garden.
            4. ** El Cid - best Mexican food in town. Inexpensive. (On
Blackstone, just north of Herndon). Eat on the patio out
                  back if you can.
            5. Alcupulco - good Mexican food. Great pitchers of
flavoured margaritas. A bit more upscale atmosphere.
            6. *Buddy's Diner. Neat, 50's style diner, complete with
chrome swivel seats, juke boxes on the tables, waiters
with rolled-up t-shirts and jeans, and waitresses with
bobby socks and pig-tails. On west side of Blackstone.
            7. Iron Sides. Great for huge greasy breakfast. Just south
on East side of Blackstone and Shaw.
            8. Omelette Parlour - (may have changed it's name). Great
omelette! Just North of Griffith on West side of
                  Blackstone.
            9. Bagel Basket. Great fresh bagels and good omelette. Try
the one on Blackstone and Griffith.
            10. Alligator Club, Friday's, Willikers - all wood, brass,
and plants places. Food alright for light, basic meals.
Big happy hour crowd - especially on Fridays. Disco
starts (except for Friday's) around 10pm.
            11. Green House Restaurant - food is alright. Jazz night
(Tuesdays?) is often superb (9pm - midnight)! Few people
go. *The band with singer Bob, and keyboard player Craig
is fantastic (especially Bob's singing - hard to imagine
finding this level of talent in Fresno). Ring the
restaurant and ask where they're playing (I've forgotten
their name). On Shaw Avenue just West of Cedar and East
                  of Fresno).
      B. *Fig Garden Shopping Center - usually great outdoor Jazz on
Thursday evenings. Fashion show of local fashions as a break
            in music.
      C. Roger Rocka's Music hall. Fun and reasonably priced dinner
theatre. Talent level varies, but ok for small town. Tell
Roger and his daughter Lezlie I said hello. Try the restaurant
across the street for a drink (I've forgotten the name). Just
remodelled. In funky part of town. Also across the street is
the Wild Blue on Olive Avenue. Roger also owns an English pub
not far away (again I've forgotten the name). If you want some
foreign beer, this is the place.
      D. The Wild Blue. Range and quality of bands varies, but some
times is superb. Mixed crowd - from hippy to suits. (on Olive
            Avenue).
      E. *Sierra Sport and Racquet Club - posh tennis club on Alluvial,
just North of Herndon. Team tennis is definitely worth seeing
(standard of play is quite high). I think that it's on Friday
evenings. Ring them (209-431-8200) to find out when. Billie
Jean King has an investment in the home team. I used to work
here. Say hello to them (Tom, Dan, Shawna ...) for me.
      F. "Omar the Magnificent!" Blue Mondays. He's an old black blues
musician who plays blues piano around the town in seady bars.
Monday is open mic where others sit in and play along. It's as
the blues should be played. He has quite a chip on his
shoulder, but is always open for a chat. You'll just have to
ask around to find out where he's playing. Lezlie and John
might be able to help you (209-435-8887).
      G. This is really a longer list than the town warrants, but I
lived there for five years, so I know the town well.
