It would be a good start, yes. But what would happen after that?

You say that Hungarians are always divided. I've heard that before. But
is it really true? I'd say that we're not divided - we're diverse. That's
a positive quality, not a negative one.

Yes, they could serve as reference points, but they don't.

You know, I would have been much happier if you listed Hungarian day care
centres or bilingual schools. As important as retirement communities are,
they're indicative of where we stand as a community. We're in retirement.
And after we die, will there be much of a Hungarian presence in the Americas?

****************** CALL FOR ACTION ****************

Priority:
   urgent

Background:
The Vice President of J.P. Morgan assured Bela Liptak last year
that J.P. Morgan did not give any loans for the completion of
Gabcikovo project.
Today it is obvious that Slovakia received a loan for end building
of Gabcikovo by a group of banks headed by J.P. Morgan.

What to do:
Please send a letter to the Vice President of J.P Morgan and
protest. Feel free to use the attached form letter. Since we do not
know the internet access please send faxes.

Margaret W. Southerland
Vice President
J.P. Morgan
60 Wall Street
New York, N.Y. 10260-0060

RE: Loan to Slovakia

Dear Mrs. Southerland,

According to your letter of July 1996, (addressed to prof. Bela
Liptak), J.P. Morgan received assurances from the Water Development
Enterprise of Slovakia that none of the loans you managed for this
company will be spent on the Gabcikovo dam.

On the 26th of November, 1996, Miroslav B. Liska, an employee of the
Water Development Enterprise of Slovakia, indicated that the company
has received a loan to finance the "end building" of Gabcikovo by a
group of banks headed by J.P. Morgan.

On March 25, 1997 at the International Court of Justice in The Hague,
Slovakia's representatives once again repeated this claim.

Dear Mrs. Southerland, we would like to learn, if J.P. Morgan is
managing a loan which finances the completion of the Gabcikovo
project? If you are, your bank is supporting an environmentally
disastrous and illegal project and is acting contrary to your written
statement of July 1996. Please clear this up.

Sincerely,

<name, title, address>

No I do not think they are fairy tales, I was just in a silly mood and
wanted to claim the first arrivel from the other way around. I hope I did
not offend anyone, that was not the intent.

When one starts scratching, some Hungarian content shows up in the least
likely places. The following is particularly aimed at Hugh Agnew:

In the Publice Records Office (UK) under "State Papers, Scotland Series I,
Elizabeth I, SP 52/27 item 21.1605 there is a document (I have abstract
only, it would be worth to dig up the whole text!) But it goes like this:

"List of Peers of Scotland with references to Lord Borthwick and Lord
Creichton who came from Hungary in the time of King Malcolm, and Lord Lovat,
called 'Fresell' whose surname came from Hungarian."

The abstract is from an interesting compilation "Guide to Documents and
Manuscripts in Great Britain Relating to the Kingdom of Hungary from the
Earliest Times to 1800."
compiled by Gyorgy Kurucz, 1992, ISBN 0-7201-2146-9

So who knows how many "first Hungarians" came disguised in kilts to America
(or were transported to Australia). Some of those guys in Braveheart sure
looked Hungarian (at least from the rear) :-).

Regards,Jeliko.

If my memory serves me right, Jeliko's topic , with a little more digging, will
lead to: "Washington's Hungarian ancestry" by Mabel Thacher Rosemary Washburn
an article in Vol. 29, no. 4, 1935 of the Journal of American History.

It's fun reading. :)

The very last phase, the hopeless one. The symptoms will
be tangible for the environment as well. And considerable
"Realitaetsabloesung", loosing touch with reality takes
place...Its not quite like BSE, its rather Jacobs-Kreutzfeldt.

Well, in many generations the sins of the fathers will be sanctioned
by the breed...You are not alone, brother.

Maybe we should create a business that cures people of it.
The only problem is that I would come across as a blathering
hypocrite.

Don't you think that it was a Transylvanian hex? Are you
implying that it's genetic retribution? You mean that my
mother's threat "you will find out what I went through when you have
a son of your own" became true. Aoleu ( Juj!).

Unfortunately, Barna, we need the original Laszlo Papp, to make a difference.
The quotation herein warms my heart because it confirms my feelings. I
no longer feel alone in feeling alone (culturally, I mean). But you and I know
that Paul Pulitzer was/is a person with considerable clout and of means,
yet......

Maybe we should approach papa Soros with our little problem? I wouldn't
mind one bit having a face-to-face chit-chat with him. But I am afraid e-mail
would stop at some minion's mail-box. Just like much of the well-intended
letters
to your favorite Congressman.

Realistically,

The current hypothesis that I am toying with is:

Organized crime caused a unprecedented influx of technological
devices available to Eastern Europe. Thus, causing the collapse
of Communist Party rule in the region.

I am looking for input on this. Please share your thoughts with me.
