I wish you all a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year!
May next year bring peace and prosperity to all.

Just reposting my response on "Sweet Mother Russia" for
those who may have missed it:

Thank you Mr. Dimwitriev for the compliment, I am sure that
many Russians are getting a good education here on
the Internet. The things that I and many other Ukrainians
write on the board today have given many Ukrainians
free vacations in the past in such nice Soviet places like
Vorkuta, Chita, Zeleniy Klyn and other other such nice Russian
winter resort areas. The Russian Czar was so overwhelmed by
the wonderful poems of our great poet Taras Shevchenko that
he too received such a nice vacation from the Russian Czar.
>Now everyone who wants to
know about the people of the new free Ukraine will see them in your
face, your style and your manners. It seems to me that normal Ukranians
should hold you as either a provocateur or a person who not consciously
does more harm than good to the reputation of his beloved motherland.
Let us hope that you are just the second one. As such you managed to
write the next:

Firstly, "the Ukraine" since the name was given by those Russians whom
Now, now, Mr. Dimwitriev, no body hates the Russians. In fact
everyone seems in a rush to see who can kiss Russia's back side
first. The West gives Russia billions in loans and aid, Russia gets
to keep her nuclear weapons of all the successor states to the Soviet
Union, Russia gets to butcher the freedom fighters of Chechnya and
the West just wags their finger and says "No, No not so harshly" and
the Bear says, "Da, Da," and continues to butcher the innocent.
The question rather is:
WHY DOES RUSSIA HATE HER NEIGHBORS?
WHY DON'T THE RUSSIANS WANT
TO LEARN THE LANGUAGES OF THE COUNTRIES (former USSR)
IN WHICH THEY RESIDE? WHY DO THE RUSSIANS
THINK THAT THEY HAVE THE RIGHT TO IMPOSE
THEMSELVES ON THEIR NEIGHBORS AGAINST
THEIR WISHES? WHEN WILL THE RUSSIANS ACCEPT
THE SOVEREIGNTY OF THEIR NEIGHBORS AND
START TO DEVELOP RELATIONS AS EQUALS IN
ALL FIELDS ie. SCIENCE, TRADE, CULTURE, ETC.?
WHY DO THE RUSSIAN POLITICIANS FEEL THE
NEED TO REBUILD THE EVIL EMPIRE? IS THIS
SOME KIND OF RUSSIAN DISEASE, OR DOES IT
STEM FROM SOME KIND OF INFERIORITY COMPLEX?
WHY THIS NEED TO ENSLAVE OTHER NATIONS?
DIDN'T RUSSIA LEARN ANYTHING FROM THE
NAZI EXPERIENCE? WHY DO THEY WANT TO BE
LIKE THE NAZIS? I WOULD APPRECIATE A REPLY!
>so much and means 'the edge' i.e. 'something quite remote from
the center of the state'. Strangely enough, 'the' is now omitted, which

I didn't know that the Russians had such great
influence over those who set the grammar rules for English. You see
Mr. Dimwitriev, after the Ukrainians received their independence, they
corrected the English speaking world and told them that it was incorrect
to use the definite article in front of Ukraine and they stopped. It is no
And please, pray tell, who gave Rus the name Ukraine. I and the rest of the
scholastic world are just dying to know. But please we want to know the
sources, including chapter and verse.
We "know" you people would "never" twist the historical facts, it is just
that we would like to read them for ourselves.

imperial army (and, by the way, occupying the highest positions) added

Did you know that the rascal who heads the Russian Orthodox church
is a renegade Estonian. All nations produce scumbags but true patriots
renounce them and put them on trial when they get the opportunity.
Unfortunately, as the latest election in Russia showed, the Russians
elect them to the highest offices in the land.
> Thirdly, you make a great mistake by not distinguishing between the
Communists and the Russians. It was not the Russians but the Communists

Please spare me the alligator tears, before the communists it was the
Czar and his nobles. Those fellows claimed that Ukraine never even

which means that nationality is of secondary importance: every nation
suffered - Ukrainians, Russians, Estonians etc. During the famine of
1921, which covered mostly Russian territories, c. 7 mln people died.
Please, do not say that the Ukrainians suffered the most: to prove this
>you should provide something which does not exist.
Dimwitriev, the famine in Ukraine was not a natural famine, it was
Russian genocide against the Ukrainian nation and the U.S. Congressional
study of the Ukrainian GENOCIDE proved that it was GENOCIDE,
and not really a famine. It was ordered by your Russianized Stalin and
carried out by your Russianized Jew, Lazar Kaganovich.

character and policy), we would have the Crimea, etc.. You see,
there are many more benefits for Russia to have the Ukraine without than
within. Therefore, let us together sing a hymn to the God almighty that
it, finally, happened.
Fifthly, I am not a Russian nationalist - a suspiciously vague concept
Why the false confession? Your words convict you!

Thank you very much, I wish the best for Russia likewise,
but also demand that Russia 1. Starts acting like a civilized
country and starts treating her neighbors as equals. 2. Gets
her portion of the Black Sea fleet out of Ukraine immediately.
3. Takes all of her troops and pensioners out of Ukraine and
starts to recall all of the millions of Russians which were
sent to Ukraine to settle the lands of murdered Ukrainians.
Russia has lots of unsettled lands where these people can
go settle. 4. Start making reparations to Ukraine for the
Chornobyl disaster. The reactors were built and operated in a
deficient manner by Moscow. Ukraine did not control
the Soviet power plants in Ukraine, Moscow did, and should
pay for the damages done to the people of Belarus and Ukraine.
5. Stops murdering the people of Chechnya.

Thanks again Mr. Dimwitriev for your such nice compliments. You must
be one outstanding example of post Soviet Russian intellectuals.

> Hungarians living in the West too much compliment. No! There is no complimen
t. It is an obvious fact: Hungarians are
intelligent people and they have contributions in many fields. This is
precisely why I cannot understand why intelligent people instead of
adapting to realities and making the most out of it continue to struggle
for a lost cause.
Even you Charlie cannot refrain from sarcasm in your posting. You try to
be logic and polite but from time to time you cannot stifle an air of
superiority. To be honest with you I think that this is in general the
problem: Maghiars cannot accept that some former peasants should tell
them what to do. I do not say this is your problem because this will mean
to insult your intelligence, and I do not want this because we have many
points to agree upon.
There are some where agreement is not possible. For example: do you
really think that not knowing American you would have succeded in US?
Probably not. Therefore saying that Romanians should not be preocupied by
the language in which Maghiars conduct business imediately implies that
Romania is another kind of foreign country than US. In US yes we should
speak the language of the place but who should care about this in
Romania?.... This is the kind of arogance that will not allow for
Maghiars to be left in peace as you say, and will vote stupid laws like
the flag law.. Speaking about the flag: do you really think that if
Maghiars had always put both the flag of the country where they were born
(like it or not) and on which social system they rely upon, together with
the Hungarian tricolor anybody would have ever passed that law ? I think
As you said you want to bring your worries to the public, but you do not
tell the whole truth... I am not accusing you I do speak in general. I do
not want to engage in polemics because I consider them a waste of time.
We are not going to solve the situation in Transylvania but the Maghiar
diaspora can certainly worsen it: remember the Hungarian hot head from
Australia who wanted to go and fight for the freedom of Transylvania? He
was on the net not long ago, and he is not alone...With this kind of
provocations all you (I should not say you since you do not live there)
will get is more "flag laws".
My posting is long and I derailed from the original subject, but maybe,
just maybe I can make you guys understand the real problem; as they say
is US: it's the economy stupid!... When the economy will be good enough
for both Hungary and Romania I really doubt that anybody cares where
Transylvania is..It will be in Europe, and all this will be just history.
Untill then however is good to remember that it is in Romania and any
help for the Maghiars there from the MAghiar here should be constructive
and not a complaint at the European Parlament and media everywhere
because this can only damage the influx of capital towards Romania,
therefore Transylvania, therefore the Maghiars there; next step you know
is for them to be held responsible for the economic colapse and it is not
difficult to imagine what the result will be for that ethnicity.. And if
anyone think that US or anybody will be there to support Maghiars, please
remember that Russia will never tolerate disturbances so close to its
borders and God knows the result. If you think I have too much
imagination, so be it, but I read too much history not to have it.
Again this is not directed only to you, Charlie, so do not take it

December 26, 1995
Here is additional detail for the Peter Rodman article "Yalta in the
Balkans" that I sent on December 13.
I believe the Pomfret article quoting Holbrooke confirmed it as well.
Peter Rodman's revelation of secret Clinton assurances to Yeltsin that
NATO expansion would be delayed indefinitely was given wide advance
circulation by National Review among Capitol Hill denizens, diplomats, and
journalists. George Will asked Warren Christopher about it on the December
3 Brinkley showonly to be told it was "absolute nonsense." Mr.
Christopher denied any such "arrangement" and promised that the NATO
Allies were "on a steady course" on the enlargement issue. The term
"arrangement " was of course a straw man, and the NATO Allies are in fact
on a "steady course" to nowhere: the only schedule they have is a schedule
of infinite evasions. Mr. Rodman's sources are authoritative witnesses, on
both the Russian and the American side, to the summit conversation at Hyde
Park and also to lower-level exchanges. The Secretary's stonewall is
unbecoming. Speaker Gingrich is including a query about the matter in a
formal letter to the President. We expect a more judiciousand
candidreply. (From National Review)
Separate item, also from NR:
To you skeptics, we say: A nation that can bring lasting peace to Somalia
can bring lasting peace to Bosnia.
