Hosted by the Bartok Dance Ensemble
Teaching by Zoltan J Nagy with the assistance of the entire Bartok Dance
Ensemble, accompanied by the Bartok Orchestra. Sponsored by the BArtok
Cultural Dance Association.

Advanced Dancers of Hungarian Folk Dance are invited to join the BArtok
DAnce Ensemble for a week of intensive dance training and cultural
events, beginning with the St. Stephen Day celebrations in Budapest on
August 19-20, and culminating with a cultural excursion to Somogy County
on the 26th. Upon arrival on the 19th, you can spend your time with
members of the Bartok at the Buda Castle, where you can see plenty of the
best semi-professional and traditional village groups performing as well
as browse and shop at one of the year's largest folk markets.

Proposed Material: Bonchida (Romanian) and Somogy (Hungarian). We are
open to suggestions for other materials.

Dance teaching will take place from 21st - 25th daily in two sessions
with a long lunch break to escape the heat of the day.

In the evenings there will be cultural and ethnographic presentations:
* Dance cycles and dance customs, by Laszlo Felfoldi, Hungarian Academy
of Sciences' Musicology Institute.
* Fok costumes, by Jolan Borbaly, ethnographer at the Institute for
Hungarian Culture and Education
* Fok music, Ferenc Sebo, Director of Folk Music Division, Hungarian
Television (MTV)

Cost: 450 DM or $300 USD

Cost includes accommodation from the 19th - 27th and two meals per day,
beginning with dinner on the 19th to breakfast on the 27th. Cost also
includes all teaching, presentations, cultural events and excursions in
the company of members of the Bartok, as well as a review video and
Bartok T-shirt. Accommodation will be in two-bed rooms close to the
the place where teaching will take place.

The Dance Academy will take place once there are 30 registered dancers.

be sent.}

+ - Bartok dance camp gone, what next? (mind) VÁLASZ  Feladó: (cikkei)

Hi,

Since the Bartok Hungarian dance camp has now been cancelled (alas), I
and my 2 fellow former-registrants are looking for other dancing
opportunities, espec. to do Hungarian dance, but also Int'l, Balkan,
Swing (EC, WC, Lindy hop), Vintage or Scandy (not English Country or
Square dancing, please). Yes, we already know about the
camps in Romania, but they are too early and too far from where we'll
be arriving on August 11 (Frankfort). And my "int'l" directory has
listings mostly for England.

Anyone got any ideas for dancing or dance camps in Germany (espec.
Frankfort, Koblenz, Tuebingin and environs), Austria, Czech Rep, Slovakia or
Hungary between Aug 13 and 31?

Anyone know how to find about more about dancing in those areas via email?

Norm
