Ferenc asked for the original of the saying that "money is a gift from
God to be spent for pleasure." I'm sorry that I can't provide it, be-
cause I heard the saying in English in graduate school decades ago.

I must confess, too, that no Hungarians I mentioned it too last spring had
heard of it, either, which I why I noted that it might well be apochryphal.

How about: "Humor is no joking matter."

Have you ever heard of poetic license? Doctoral thesis are very difficult
to put to music. And the financial rewards are not nearly as good.

You may think that the lyrics of "Imagine" are silly. I don't! Perhaps
you've lost the ability to imagine. Too bad! Perhaps the concrete analysis
of concrete situations is more to your liking.

Does anyone know the words to any traditional Hungarian Children's Songs,
for example 'Hinta-Palinta'?

Many thanks.

The author's name is Tibor Fischer. An absolutely hilarious and
heart-breaking book about Hungary in the 1940s and 1950s. It's one of the
best novels I've read in years.

this and other Hungarian threads.I have to tell you she takes a lot of
heat, and I admire her, since myself I would have given up long-long time ago.
I am certain your wishes made her smile.
Now you have the right to ask,why do I write,or awnser your letter. There is
only one reason:from all the people in europe my chosen onec are the Dutch
people.I am not trying to get friendly with you, this is the honest truth.
Many times on my tripps to Budapest we stopped at Shipphole airport.Either
did not have the time or monney to visit Holland.A 2 years ago we (my
wife)tooke the first visit, but just for a couple of days.Since she is
working in a hospital as a nurse in the dental departement, there are
exchange students comming from Holland also.So we tooke advantage of this
and met one of the guys there. He was our guide, and we enjoyed it very much.
So the following year we took advantage of a KLM offer and staid 6days,met
another studentand her botfriend and v\with them and without travelled
through Holland.I was not dissapointed we found the same friendly peole all
over and came back with nicememories.
It was also very nice to see the Dutch people welcome for the canadian's who
liberated them from the Nazis.
I am not a born Canadian, but in heart I belong hereand not in Hungary where
I was born.
So I think I explained myself, and maybe when you have time we can continue
our conversation
Till then,Happy Easter and see you:
Andy Kozma.
