The <return> key would have worked a lot easier! Then the rest of us would not
have to read your drivel...

We all celebrate different holidays by the culture we are/were raised in.

Do you also slap people in the face when they say good day? as you are having
a bad one?

So please spare us....

Your point is well taken. IMO, one of the most annoying trends in
contemporary culture, especially American culture, is the eagerness with
which we try to gain power through victimhood. I hate the feeling that I
can't even engage in basic communication without someone expressing their
"outrage at my thoughtlessness" and feeling "violated" by my attempt at
relationship with them. This sort of pettiness waters down the credibility
of the real and systemic oppression that happens everyday. And, before
anyone nails me for it, I realize that the label "real" is a judgment call.
I don't claim to be an authority on what's legitimate oppression, but I
feel safe in my impatience with those who jump at the chance of being a
victim. At my seminary here in Berkeley, we have a joke:

"How are you today?"
"What do mean by that?"

I think, however, that we could perhaps be a bit more civil in pointing out
these things that annoy us. Comments like "please spare us" only shut down
conversation, when I believe it is in our best interest to encourage it.

Peace --
Scott

Szervusz Pal (Pa'l),
I have not read your original article, therefore, out of context, it
would be simply ignorant from my part to make any comment on your
interpretation of those words.
Minden jot,
